The right deodorant was so hard to find until now…
My review of Paraben free & Aluminun free Native Deodorant
The right deodorant is so hard to find, don’t you agree? How many hundred of deodorants must we try out in our lifetime? Not sure if men have the same issue as us Women, but it can be pretty chaotic when they stop working at inopportune times.
I don’t want to generalize as some might have already found the right deodorant, the one that works form them but that was not my case until a few months ago. I truly hated going to the drugstore or grocery store or department store to try to pick out a deodorant as the majority of them are too scented, contain alcohol and make my pits burn like Kevin from Home Alone. Sorry, I had to go there. Anyway, it has been a mission. Until, one day while browsing through my Pinterest boards, I came across a Pin that called my attention… as it depicted the issues with finding the deodorant that works.
I have to give credit where credit is due; therefore, I am giving props to a post written in Womans Fitness and Style, they made mentioned of several deodorants that I had tried without success but this one was new to me so I clicked on the name, Native.
I went to Native’s website to learn more about the company, the company’s philosophy and most importantly the ingredients. As you know, Coconut Oil is big now a days, it is used in pretty much everything, from cooking to beauty. So, hey why not make a deodorant with coconut oil. I particularly liked that the ingredients are ones that I can pronounce such as Coconut oil, Maltodextrin, Probiotics, Caston Bean Oil, Stearyl Alcohol and Arrowroot powder. The price is not bad at all, you can buy one for $12.00 plus shipping and handling or $10.00 if you subscribe to their auto shipping. So, I went ahead and purchased one with the auto shipping every 4 months(hopefully this bar will last me 4 months), I was hesitant to buy and try something that I had never heard of, but I was also optimistic that maybe just maybe, it would work.
Native Ingredients week after ordering. The deodorant container is sleek and easy to grip. The feel of the deodorant was smooth, almost of a powdery-lotion feel without the greasy, sticky feel that other name brand deodorants tend to leave behind. I was pleasantly surprised that even though I had ordered the Coconut Vanilla flavor I was not able to pick up the smell and that is a good thing for us women who don’t enjoy our deodorant clashing with our fragrance of the day.
The following morning, I followed the “tips for using Native” included in the box, I scrubbed my armpits thoroughly with soap and water to remove excess oils and bacteria. Apply a small amount as their tips do say Less is More. If you apply too much just rub it in as the excess will act as a skin moisturizer, reduce wetness and provide better odor protection. And last but not least, wear it daily. I proceeded to rub a small amount of the Native deodorant on my armpits, it felt good knowing that I was not putting any harsh chemicals on my skin. If I told you that it worked great the first day, second day, third day, I would be lying to you. However, I forgot to tell you that they do have a disclaimer that says that it cant take up to 14 days to get the maximum effectiveness.
The test is in the pudding, or in this case, under my armpits.
After two weeks of using the deodorant on a daily basis and only once a day, I can for write my post with certainty that Native has worked on me. As with any product, if you think that you are sensitive to any of the ingredients, stop using and contact Native. Their customer support is really good, I had an issue and I received a reply right away.
It has been the only deodorant that has worked as both an antiperspirant and deodorant. I am completely satisfied with this product and thankful for George and Jen Bright who wrote the original post who then pinned it in Pinterest.
